Got my approval today.
Followed Peggy Hall's advice and answered every question as if I was in my Bible study group: Only answered from my Faith. I also figured out that AA has given me a previous exemption by giving me and authorizing me to wear the Christian ERBG pin on my uniform. Basically the "Miracle on 34th street" defense: AA has already said I was a Christian and AA cannot argue against itself.
The letter also says that we are a part of the vax group for the $50 and free vacation day. I think that is to avoid discrimination?
But the fight is in what the accommodation is especially with Brazil, Peru and Columbia all requiring the vax now. AA can use the case that actually working a flight is an "unreasonable" accommodation which I expect them to try. Of course as a temporary measure they often exclude those with missing Chinese visa, or landings, or area qual. They will argue Covid is not temporary?
All good for now but too calm out there....
Congrats ! I got my religious accommodation, as well (UTSW). I, too, feel it is a temporary reprieve, but it is definitely nice not stressing about for now.
This is great news! Congrats! Keep in mind, people are currently getting their "exemption" approved, not accommodations. Please stay engaged as now you'll have to watch which accommodations they want you to follow.
Congratulations. Did you attach anything to the AA form or just answer the questions? Thank you
today is the day to file if you're gonna.
I have seriously considered ignoring it ... and given the lack of messaging in the last couple of weeks, it wouldn't be hard to do.
This has been quite the odd sequence of events, yes?
I will seek to send my DECLARATION of exemption at precisely High Noon CST and let's see what happens. My list of acceptable accommodation is fairly short; I will agree to declare "fit for duty" before each flight. Period. No testing.
Walking by faith and appreciate those "in the kitchen" who are the instruments.
See y'all on the other side ... will report back
