Hello! Brand new to the forum. I’m sorry to be posting this in the AA section but it seems to be the only one getting forum action and replies.

I was at Expressjet with two job offers (Hawaiian and Allegiant) and March 11th 2020 through a wrench in that next step of my career. Expressjet has now been gone for over a year and I have moved on to doing real estate, which has great potential but is intolerably boring. I miss flying and have been entertaining the idea of getting back on the horse, BUT, it seems that everyone is requiring this vaccine, which I will never get no matter how much I miss flying. I have seen on several airline websites that they require a vaccine for pilots or an acceptable exemption. Does anyone happen to know how the exemptions work for new hires? Any airlines that don’t require it? I appreciate any guidance! Thank you in advance!

Just throwing out some info where and when I can find it.

Had a friend get hired at ABX recently. So far ABX is not requiring the vaccine.

To my knowledge AA is accepting medical or religious accommodations for new hires, unfortunately I don’t know what the process is for them.

@austenm hi,

I have reached out to find out if the process has changed but for American, it was that you would log into jetnet, search religious accommodations,click on the 1st article Religious Accommodations, then towards the end of the article you will see a light blue link “reasonable accommodation and exemption request form”. That link should open the form where you can select a vaccine exemption or regular exemption. Then fill out and submit the form. But only hit save at the bottom to submit the form.

I will let you know if anything has changed when I find out abit more info, but the process I listed above has been the process we have been following for the last 4 months.

This is the infomation I just recieved.

“It depends on where they are at in the process being pre or post-employment. If they have been made an offer then they would go through Key survey to submit an exemption. Once they start they would go through the same process you did.”

Which is the process I shared earlier.
